Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning Teeth of Naros DLC

Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning Teeth of Naros DLC - 1DVD

Teeth of Naros, like Legend of Dead Kel adds a section to the existing world map, but this time it’s added in the form of a separate, overlaid map that isn’t connected directly to the rest of the world map. This is because the Teeth Of Naros is a mountain range that exists beyond the borders of the known land and can only be reached via an impassable cave. You’re invited to join an expedition into the caves that is headed up by a mercenary named Helyc Crosse.

While the story seems like standard, boring, fantasy fare you will quickly be stripped of that notion as control over the events of this adventure are ripped out of your character’s hands soon into your journey. By the end you’ll likely have forgotten why you decided to come to the Teeth of Naros in the first place as you’ll find yourself in the middle of a war, then a civil war, then an imminent disaster. I’ll let you experience most of this for yourself but, rest assured, this DLC has a great story that is, as Dead Kel was, far more interesting than anything in the main campaign.

You may notice that the main ‘world’ map of the Teeth of Naros is quite a bit smaller than the island of Gallow’s End from Legend of Dead Kel, or other areas on the main map, but don’t let this scare you off. There is plenty to see and do in this land and the majority of the content comes in the form of large dungeons and other areas hidden behind loading screens. The sewers of the floating city of Idylla are vast and many tiered and even the caves are large.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is one of my favorite games in terms of art style and visuals and just when I thought it couldn’t get any better I journeyed to the Teeth of Naros. How the folks at Big Huge Games managed to make another area that is trees, grass and stone buildings look so different from the others is beyond me. The area design is subtle and the differences are understated, but you’ll have no trouble telling that you’re in a distant land.

This adventure can be over in a short period of time, right around three hours, but that would be if you rushed through the main story only. There are, once again, a ton of side quests available and if you really want to visit every area and experience every part of the story you’ll have to do some of the side quests. If you really take the time to play through the rest of the missions your time here can easily double. Keep in mind that a good number of these side quests are much more than fetch quests or monster hunts. This is a grand adventure packed into a small area and any fan of the game will thoroughly enjoy it.
